The class will discuss and explain the importance of properly mentoring current and future leaders. Leadership is not rank specific, but characterized more by ones confidence, knowledge, dedication, and ability to inspire and motivate.
The objectives for the class are to discover how to progress in maturity through ones career, and learn avenues to equip your followers and yourself. We will discuss how to properly invest in others success, and discover the motivational catalysts of your personnel.
The subject matter content will explore areas of focus to include: characteristics of an effective leader, an investment in your personnel and yourself, and discovering the mentorship component of leadership to develop and enhance skill development. The characteristic area would explore desirable traits of a leader, discussion of six points of an exceptional leader, discuss building a foundation, knowing and communicating expectations. The investment area would discuss the importance of building a relationship with your personnel, helping to establish and reach goals, and understand the personal values of your personnel and connecting those with the organizational goals. The mentorship component would combine an effort to prepare yourself, prepare your personnel, and leaving a legacy. These areas would discuss engaging yourself as a leader, accepting a servant attitude; teach others the fundamental knowledge while equipping them to excel in their abilities, understanding the impacts of your leadership investment, knowing your priority, and creating committed personnel not compliant.
The class is designed for all ranks as mentoring and leadership is not rank specific. While most content is targeted for improvement as a company officer, it can also serve as initial building blocks for aspiring firefighters seeking career advancement, or to reignite the passion of a firefighter for their investment in others.
